Abstract

COVID-19 inflicted upon humanity, many changes that we were forced to accept and adopt in order to stay safe and healthy. The dynamics were experienced from each one of us, from children to adults, everyone was forced to adapt to the new normal of the pandemic. The changes came with a certain level of stress caused due to a sudden shift in the lifestyle and routines as well as the anxiety of staying safe and protecting our families. All of us experienced conflict between multidimensional lives and its complimentary facets namely work and family, which called for more attention during the testing times of the pandemic. A plethora of feelings like fear, anxiety, insecurity, instability caused different behavioral responses. and coping mechanisms. Working professionals as well as home managers felt a sudden change in working patterns daily routines. This change though adopted by each one us, became a source of stress as well. Stress affects both the dimensions of one’s life that is professional efficiency as well as personal relationships. This study is focused on the stress causing factors among academicians and its management. It would be significant to assess the levels of stress among them and impact of it on the various aspects of professional and personal life. The focal point of the study would be the impact of stress related to demographics of the academicians due to the dynamics influenced by COVID-19. The shift of work patterns and work from home set-up and challenges posed by it for the academicians’ fraternity would be focused upon.
